Understanding The Nervous System

ree

The central nervous system is composed of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system are the spinal nerves off the spinal cord that branch out to organs, tissues, muscles, and glands. Chiropractic focuses on removing any interference within the pathways from the brain to the body, vice versa. These pathways are important for communication to be delivered. Messages to the body for function and then a message sent back to the brain on the outcome.

The Innate intelligence operates over the nervous system. Meaning if the pathway of communication is clear, the bodies inborn intelligence knows what is necessary for healing, growth, reproduction, assimilation, excretion, adaptability, respiration etc. Creating the actions and outcomes for the coordination of health.

Within the peripheral nervous system, it divides into two portions: autonomic and somatic. The autonomic is for self-regulated actions of organs and glands that divides into the sympathetic and parasympathetic. Sympathetic is for our adrenalin to spike and get into a state of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. A state that our ancestors operated in for survival. Quick example of how it involves self-regulated actions is by if we see something coming after us, our adrenaline spikes which automatically increases heart rate to circulate blood out faster to the muscles of our limbs for us to get running. Relaxation of the urinary system for us to not feel or think we have to stop for the bathroom. Digestion turns down with a decrease of blood because it has been mainly shunted to the primary muscles for us to flee. Our breathing increases for oxygen to be delivered faster as our eyes dilate. All happening without conscious need of control. The parasympathetic is our rest, digest, stay, and play. We will save going to depth between these two for another blog. The somatic peripheral is for sensory input and motor output to the muscles for actions to play out. We feel a hot stove and immediately our reflexes kick in to pull our hand away. These messages don't have time to make their way to the brain, they go to the spinal cord and quickly back out for an action to happen.

We can now see how important a clear pathway is between these delicate nervous, and any form of tension can alter the transmission of communication. This can limit our full potential of living.
